Why a Gap Year?
The Bridge Program is an intensive 9-month discipleship program, uniquely created to equip students for the challenges of life. Through an integration of spiritual development, leadership activities, work experience, and community living, Bridge students will deepen their faith, strengthen character, and learn what it means to passionately follow Jesus.
In the past few years, our summer staff have continuously asked and expressed interest in being at Barefoot after the summer. They love the community, the deeper relationship with Jesus & the intentional time to think, pray & seek God. As an answer to this continued request, we have created the Bridge Program to fill the need in our Barefoot family and anyone who desires the same.
The Bridge Program is an intensive 9-month discipleship program for 18-24 year olds, uniquely created to equip students for the challenges of life. Through an integration of spiritual development, leadership activities, work experience, and community living, Bridge students will deepen their faith, strengthen character, learn what it means to passionately follow Jesus, and be equipped with tools for exploring and discovering God's presence in their lives. This 9 month program facilitates Christ-centered relationships between individuals from diverse racial, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds through opportunities for education, vocational training, and ministry development.

Bridge students not only increase in virtues like compassion, integrity, work ethic, perseverance, and discipline but also are equipped with essential life skills for practical living. Students will learn the tools necessary for developing and maintaining healthy Christ-centered relationships, setting them up for success in their future. They will grow in faith by gaining a deeper understanding of God and how He impacts every area of your lives.

Worried about the cost of the Bridge Program? The average yearly cost of just room and board for schools in Tennessee is $23,350. For much less than that, you can live and eat at Barefoot Republic Camp, train in ministry, learn leadership skills AND travel to several regional destinations, out of state, and internationally on a mission trip.
