Barefoot Counseling was created to provide hope and healing to our campers, staff, volunteers, and everyone else who is struggling with issues that require professional counseling. Similar to our camps, we provide scholarships to those individuals who can’t afford to see a licensed counselor.

Dr. Jana Hunsley, LCSW

Dr. Jana Hunsley is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, developmental psychologist, and TBRI Practitioner who specializes in trauma, stress, and adversity. Jana provides individual and family therapy to individuals impacted by mental health challenges, family conflict, trauma, or major life transitions. Jana specializes in complex developmental trauma and complex PTSD. She recognizes it is important to get to the root of the challenges individuals face in order to see the “whole person” - all the reasons we are the way we are - in order to create meaningful change in life. Both developing effective coping skills and processing the stories we create for ourselves are critical elements of the therapeutic process in order for true, lasting change.

Jana also specializes in the unique, complicated needs of members of foster and adoptive families. She is considered a leading expert in a holistic family service model for foster and adoptive families, and she frequently speaks and trains for national and international audiences regarding best practices in post-placement support.

Jana has a Ph.D. and Master of Science in experimental psychology from the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University, a Master of Social Work from the University of Chicago, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Indiana Wesleyan University. Over the years, Jana has worked in various clinical settings with children and youth who have experienced trauma, including residential treatment, institutional care, therapeutic schools, child welfare, juvenile detention, and outpatient counseling.

Cali Bolinger has spent the last 20 years of her career working with children and families in the Middle Tennessee area. At Barefoot, Cali served as the Day Camp Director and the Family Camp Director for 8 years before deciding to return to school for Marriage and Family Therapy. She is trained to work with children from the ages of 3-17, parents and adult women, utilizing various models of Play Therapy and EMDR Therapy. She focuses on helping children and families function better together, heal from traumatic experiences, and increase the connection and joy needed in relationships.

You have the right to receive a 'Good Faith Estimate" explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don't have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.

  •  You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.

  • Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

  • For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
